Reproduction of original artifacts

Among our most prestigious artworks are the “Albarelli” jars which have been modelled on existing pieces from reknown collections. These type of containers were once used by “aromatari” to contain medicinal herbs. The common characteristic of these vases is the lack of a lid, which contrary to expectations, was not made of ceramic but rather of cork covered with cloth to allow the breathing of the jar contents. The most common shape of Albarello is called “rocchetto”, but other shapes such as “bombole”, “bocce”, “fiasche”, cylinder shapes and double-bellied shapes were also used. Our reproductions are mainly inspired by the Baroque tradition which developed in Palermo and Sicily and are executed by our most experienced masters who draw on their knowledge of the ancient techniques to achieve a faithful reproduction of the original decorative subjects.
